Andrew was born and brought up in Devon. A biologist by training he made a career as an author, broadcaster and award winning television producer with the BBC Natural History Unit. His films featured Dartmoor many times. He also served as a NHS Non-Executive Director and Vice-Chair of a top performing Foundation Trust hospital. As the Chair of a leading county wildlife trust and trustee and director of other organisations, he gained considerable experience at board level in public, charity and commercial businesses. He owns a farm with views to Dartmoor, is an NFU member and has lobbied for a better deal for upland farmers. A popular speaker, he lectures at local universities and worldwide. Interested in archaeology and history, he is passionate about the environment of Devon and Dartmoor especially. Andrew is the Secretary of State appointed member to the DNPA.
