Vixen Tor from the South
Vixen Tor is the highest rock mass on Dartmoor, standing 52 feet above the ground on the north side, and 93 feet on the south side, where the ground is lower.
It is most famous for its striking silhouette which has earned it various names - sphinx, vixen, and seen from the north, it is said to resemble an old man in a cap who has turned his back on his wife!
According to legend the witch of Vixen Tor lured travellers into the nearby bog.
