River Tavy and Walkham, double waters

Taken in June 1965 of Double waters which is where the River Tavy and River Walkham meet near Buckland Monachorum. Close by are the remains of the Virtuous Lady Mine which was opened in 1558 for its rich mineral reserves. The mine was closed in 1807 reopened in 1830 and finally closed 1870. One of the main adits to the mine is located under the house at the riverside which used to belong to the mine captain.
