The Western Menhir
This photograph of 1915 shows the photographer Sydney Taylor with this father Sydney Senior and his Uncle Frank at Drizzlecombe menhir. At Drizzelecombe (Thrushelcombe Plain) there are a number of interesting prehistoric monuments including barrows, stone rows and terminal menhirs. In 1893 the monoliths (menhirs) which had become prostrate were re-erected under the supervision of Rev S Baring-Gould, Hansford Worth, Robert Burnard and W. Gray.
