Black Tor Tumulus
Taken on 3/03/1940, the picture shows the cairn circle at the north-east end of the double Hart Tor row in an area rich in antiquities. These ancient burial places are common on the moor but differ in construction from place to place. All have been investigated and disturbed by earlier generations so it is difficult for archaeologists now to appreciate how and why they were built originally.
