Fitzford Church, Tavistock
Fitzford church was opened in 1867 originally as an Anglican church to serve the western part of the parish, a developmnet area. Due to the decline in mining the area never really developed and the congregations dwindled. Eventually in 1952 it transferred from the Church of England to Roman Catholic as St Mary Magdalene. The church combines Romanesque and Transitional Gothic with a campanile-like tower. Fitzford is in the west of Tavistock and its named after the Fitz family one of Tavistocks illustrious dynasties who settled here in the 15th century. This is an example of Stereoscopic photography.
