Hawks Tor
Taken in December 1956 of Hawks Tor (270m) on the very southwest edge of Dartmoor on Wotter Common. This is a small tor, where joints in the granite have formed an aperture resembling a chamber. The roof has been artificially raised on one side on a boulder possibly to make a shelter. Hawks Tor today is right on the boundary of the Lee Moor and Wotter China Clay works which do not seem evident on this image, as they may not have been mined at this time. It is probably a very different view in the 21st century.
