Hoo Meavy Coombe
Coombe means a short valley or hollow on a hillside. Hoo Meavy is a hamlet in the west of the parish and vale of Meavy, today comprising 21 houses. There was a Hoo Meavy estate that was auctioned in 1833 as a large mansion house, farm buildings and plantations of 2,000 trees. The coombe exists due to tin mining in the area and is a lane of great beauty with luscious undergrowth. Also known as Shadrick Coombe listed in 1840.
