Whittor or White Tor
This photograph was taken on 14/08/1935 Included in the Devonshire Association gathering are Professor John Satterley, the President of the Association for the year, Dr. Symes Saunders, the chairman of the Association, and Mr. R. Hansford Worth.
Professor Satterley was a physicist and mathematician based at the University of Toronto. However, his roots were in Devon - he was born in the county and started his education at the Grammar school of Ashburton. Note the style of the 1930's clothes for walking, skirts and hats of the ladies.
