Ruins of Eylesbarrow mine smelting-house

This photograph shows the ruins of the smelting-house at Eylesbarrow tin mine. This was once a major industrial site in the heart of the moor. The mine was known to be still working in the early nineteenth century, but with its demise c.1849, tin-smelting on Dartmoor came to an end. This photograph was taken on 12/06/1937.
