This picture was taken on 20/03/1940 of Cross Gate Cross, also known Lowery Cross and Leather Cross. A restored cross with a dilapidated head, the arms worn and the head broken off. The shaft is of a later period. Cross Gate Cross is one of the crosses on the 'Buckland Path', also known as the Monk's or Abbots' Path between religious establishments at Buckfast and Tavistock.
