Hawson Cross

Hawson Cross is the first cross on the Monk's Path. The Monk's Path was an ancient trackway linking Buckfast Abbey with Tavistock and Buckland Abbeys. The cross was restored by the Dartmoor Preservation Association in 1952 (the year this photograph was taken by the Taylor family) and it is thought that its present position almost corresponds to its original site.
