Butterdon Hill, southern cairn

Butterdon Hill, southern cairn

Taken in August 1942 of Butterdon Hill southern most cairn. On Butterdon Hill there are five all stone cairns prominently sited on the bare slopes. Originally these must have been much larger. A cairn is a mound of stones erected as a memorial or marker. They are a distinct feature of Dartmoors landscape.
