Lower Venton Farm Barn
The drawing shows Lower Venton Farmhouse on the right and part of its barn on the right. A note on the reverse of the original drawing reads "From M August 1949 To Mr & Mrs Herm in gratitude for the happy fortnight sharing their home." When drawn, the barn, which was probably used as a dairy, is still thatched. The Farmhouse appears to be thatched too. The owners in 2024 believe that the Farmhouse was reroofed in the 1950s using asbestos cement slate and the barn with asbestos cement sheets. By 2024, the barn had been converted into holiday accommodation. At about the same time the neighbouring cottages (St Anthony, St Michaels & St Gabriel) were similarly re-roofed, but there was a delay in re-roofing Higher Venton Farm and the work wasn't started before it was listed. Copy of drawing donated in 2024 by Mr & Mrs Wilson.
