Drizzlecombe Stone Row

Drizzlecombe Stone Row

Taken on 01/05/1940, this photograph shows part of the remarkable collection of prehistoric remains at Drizzlecombe. This stone row is 491 feet long, single, and finishes with the menhir in the foreground. In the distance can be seen a tumulus and up on the hillside the vague outline can just be made out of two pounds. The purpose of this collection of antiquities is unknown, but it is presumed that it would have been for some ceremonial use.
