Mary Tavy Cross

Mary Tavy Cross

This picture was taken in 1913 of a cross at Mary Tavy. The cross is in the churchyard and has a tapered shaft with a relatively new head. It is originally thought to be a village cross which would have stood on the village green until the churchyard was expanded in 1860. It is thought to be 14th century. The base is heavily ornamented on the sides with quatrefoils.
