Three barrows

Three barrows

Photograph taken in August 1951 of the triangulation point at Three Barrows, or burrows, on Ugborough Moor. The triangulation point is at a height of 461 metres. The cairns of Three Barrows dominate Ugborough Moor. A barrow is a 4000 year old burial chamber and these three barrows presumably held some most important people. The Three Barrows can be seen from many places around and below the moor. They have also been known as Threberis and Tre Burroughes.
