Powdermills near Postbridge

07-1969. These ruins are at Powdermills between Postbridge and Two Bridges where gunpowder was manufactured from 1844 to the late 1890s. It shows the massive construction of the walls , built to withstand accidental explosions. The roof structures were light so as to direct any accidental explosions upwards. The raised bank on the left carried the leat supplying water to the waterwheel mounted in the middle of the mill.
