Horndon Clam over the River Tavy

Horndon Clam over the River Tavy

This 1914 photograph shows two people on the footbridge over the River Tavy. The old term for such a wooden footbridge- clam - is still heard from time to time. Generally bridges in this wet country of Dartmoor are made of stone because it last longer in damp conditions.
