Powdermills

07-1969. 07-1969. These ruins are at Powder Mills between Postbridge and Two bridges where gunpowder was manufactured from 1844 to the late 1890s. It shows the massive construction of the walls , built to withstand accidental explosions. The roof structures were light so as to direct any blasts upwards. The centre section of the building would have housed a waterwheel powered from water carried in by a leat.
