VE Day bonfire

This shows people celebrating on VE day with a bonfire after the war. VE day stands for Victory in Europe Day which was May 8, 1945, the date when the Allies during World War II formally celebrated the defeat of Nazi Germany and the end of Adolf Hitler's Third Reich. On that date, massive celebrations took place all over the country. On the back of the photograph it says "Peggy taken on VE day 1945 on the moor at Sticklepath, where she was evacuated in the 2nd world war 1-9-1939-July 1946" Peggy can be seen, 3rd on the left.
