Meavy Church and Village Green
The Royal Oak tree at Meavy is supposed to be older than the church which can be seen to the right of the photograph. Legend has it that the Royal Oak was once used as a //dining tree//.
Dining trees are part of Dartmoor folklore. It is said that the ravages of time have hollowed the tree forming a 26ft circumference which allowed 9 people to dine within it!
