Powdermills near Postbridge

07-1969 One of the two chimney stacks at Powdermills, a mill used for the manufacture of gunpowder from 1844-1890's. The height of the stacks ensured that sparks were taken well away from any of the buildings vulnerable to fire. Today a pottery can be found at Powdermills. This is the southern chimney, the man is standing on the horizontal section of the flue connecting the fire in the workshop to the chimney.
