Kistvaen, Corringdon Ball
This photograph of a kist was taken on 27/12/1940 on Brent Fore hill near Corringdon Ballgate. This can also be described as a dolmen, also known as a cromlech, although it is now so incomplete that it does not show the original structure. A dolmen is larger than a kistvaen and consists of more then the 5 slabs needed for kistvaen. They are ancient burial chambers.
