Cairn near Spurrels Cross
This image was taken in 1941 of a cairn located near Spurrels cross on Ugborough moor on the southern edge of Dartmoor. This is situated on a high ridge that runs northward from Butterdon Hill and is marked by many cairns of varying sizes. A cairn is a rounded or conical heap of stones erected by early inhabitants of the British Isles to mark a burial palce.
