Tumulus near Spurrels cross

Taken in November 1942 of a tumulus near Spurrels cross on Ugborough Moor on the southern edge of Dartmoor. There is also a stone row nearby. A Tumulus is a large mound of earth. Some were raised over a burial or tomb others served as boundary markers. They date from the Neolithic period onwards.
