Bertha Bridge on the River Tavy
29/03/1936 The bridge relates to a Lady Bertha mine located near Buckland Monachorum on the east bank of the Tavy, below Balstone which closed at the end of the 19th century. The land has been cleared in the foreground with timber and faggots, (sticks of wood tied together, which are used as fuel for a fire). On the far bank is evidence of past mining activity including a waterwheel, set of stamps and derelict buildings.
