Brent Hill, St Michael's chapel
This photograph was taken on in September 1942 of the St. Michael chapel ruins on Brent hill. The old OS map of 1890 shows that there are remains of a ruined medieval chapel which was built around 1374. Brent Hill is formed of igneous rock and the name means steep, lofty or prominent. The hill stands on the edge of Dartmoor and has an exceptionaly bold outline and forms a notable landmark.
