Tavy Cleave
Taken in May 1945 of Tavy Cleave, a very steep sided river valley characterised by granite rock clitter on each side of the steep slopes. A cleave being a steep river valley cut through by the water. Rock formations on the side on the right of the Cleave are known as granite battlments or Tavy Cleave tors. The river here is confined to a narrow V shaped gorge.
