Prestonbury Castle
Taken on 15/08/1943 looking across to the iron age hill fort of Prestonbury Castle high above the River Teign valley. It is located on the eastern edge of Dartmoor, overlooking Fingle Bridge and the River Teign from the north, this strategic fort dominates the Teign valley. The fort is ovoid with strong triple defences enclosing an area of 4 acres (1.6ha). The entrance lies on the east and there are two small annexes on the north-east. The fort has yet to be excavated.
