The Merrivale Kistvaen or Cist

A kistvaen or cist is a prehistoric grave composed of four granite slabs and a flat stone which covers the top of the structure. The Merrivale kistvaen was restored in the mid-19th century after the cover stone was damaged due to the cutting of two gateposts from the stone. This photograph was taken on the 28/04/1937.
