Bennetts Cross, near Post Bridge, Bovey, North
One of the more famous of Dartmoor's stone crosses, the name Bennett seems to be attributed to William Bennet (sic.), a sixteenth-century tinner who held mining rights in this area. It is an ancient stone-age relic, standing at height of 1.73m with a shaft circumference of 1.24m and can be found just off the B3212 near the Warren House Inn. It is peculiarly distinctive, with its slightly tortured crook at almost a 45 degree angle. Not only is Bennett's Cross a boundary marker for Headland Warren it also serves as a boundary marker for the parishes of Chagford and North Bovey.
