Snowy lane

A Dartmoor farm lane in winter. Snow covers the lane approaching farm buildings and the banks alongside the lane. A woman trudges through the snow carrying two pails (?). Until recent years, winters on the moor were often harsh, and small farms and hamlets were frequently cut off. In the days before hot and cold running water and central heating life was challenging for people as well as for animals.
