Attestation form for army service

Attestation form, or contract of service, for World War One. John Mortimore of Manaton signed up for "short service" - but also "for the duration of the war" in the Coldstream Guards at Exeter in 1915, before conscription was introduced. He survived and later lived at Deal cottage.
