RAF Harrowbeer

The Sewage Disposal Works was constructed with sedimenation tanks, to settle sediment, two percolating filters to clean the liquid, a humus tank to settle sludge and drying beds for the sludge. A small tool house was also constructed on the site. The Sewage Treatment Works continue to be operated, as a processing plant for the surrounding villages. The picture shows the two percolating filters. I am not sure whether a sewage treatment plant existed in this site prior to the development of the airfield.
