RAF Harrowbeer
The signal square was a concrete square, 42 feet wide, coloured black and edged with a one foot wide white border. Laid out on the black concrete were symbols showing the active runway and the prevailing conditions and precautions to be observed for landing. The pilot would overfly the signals square to read the information before beginning his landing circuit. Two large letters, in front of the signal square identified the airfield - for RAF Harrowbeer the airfield code was "QB". Photograph taken August 2001.
