RAF Harrowbeer

RAF Harrowbeer

An exposed section of runway 35, in the vicinity of dispersal bay 114, looking north north west. This runway had a length of 1115 yards. It is said that that the hardcore used for the construction of the runways came from the rubble of the Plymouth Blitz. In dry weather the "A" shape pattern of the three runways is still visible from the air. Photograph taken July 2001.
