RAF Harrowbeer

This circular, brick built pillbox, with concrete roof, has four rifle slits and is amongst the buildings on the technical site. It is close to the main workshop,between the bulk fuel store (48,000 gallons)and the petrol installation (5,000 gallons). A circular well in the middle of the lid may have been an anti aircraft position. This structure clearly played an important role in the airfield defences. Photograph taken August 2001.
