RAF Harrowbeer
The bomb dump was situated on the north west edge of the airfield 360 feet away from the nearest military building and 2100 feet from inhabited civilian buildings. Two parallel roads led to the dump. One road, running left to right above the concrete ramp in the photograph may have been for lorries to deliver bombs from trains at Horrabridge. The bombs were possibly rolled down the ramp to be stored in buildings in the grassy area. The lower road may be for the bombing trolley to be loaded and taken to the fuzing point off the western perimeter track. I am uncertain of the actual working of the bomb dump and would welcome information. Photograph taken August 2001.
