Standon steps bridge

Standon steps bridge

This footbridge at Standon steps is thought to date from the second world war as it passes over the River Tavy and carries the ancient Lich or Lych Way. The Lich way was the mediaeval "Way of the Dead", when people would carry the bodies from the central basin of Dartmoor to Lydford church.
