Mouth of the Teign river

Mouth of the Teign river

There are treachurous sandbanks at the mouth of the river Teign and this makes it diifficult for ships to negotiate the narrow entrance to reach the docks at Teignmouth. China clay is exported from here, that used to be transported on the Stover canal. This image is taken from Shaldon looking down on the river mouth.
