Perrot was the first Dartmoor guide whio lived at Chagford. In the Victorian age when the first tourists interested in walking and seeing Dartmoor's antiquities came to visit Dartmoor they would hire Perrot to guide them. He was the person who set up the first ever letterbox at Cranmere Pool at the centre of the Northern moor.
