The Nutcracker Rock

This photograph shows the well-known logan stone known as Nutcracker Rock sometime before the middle of the 20th century. In 1950 the form of the Nutcracker was changed forever when a number of men from the village dislodged the upper stone, causing it to fall down the steep slope of the Cleave. This destroyed the upper stone.
