Mining Engineer Alexander Livingstone and Family
The Livingstone family moved to Lustleigh from Scotland in order for Alexander Livingstone to work the local mines. In 1896 he was in charge of Plumley Mine, owned by the Ferrubron Company. In the same year, however, Alexander Livingstone died from pneumonia and "miner's lung". Miner's lung is a respiratory disease associated with breathing in large amounts of coal dust in enclosed spaces.
