Lustleigh Church House

Church Houses, like this one in Lustleigh, were built during the 15th century as venues for people to relax, drink and socialise. They were heavily connected with alcohol consumption during festivals and social occasions, and perhaps as a result did not have a long life. Many church houses had ceased to be used for their original purposes by the late 16th and early 17th centuries. A large number of church houses were built in the West Country and some remain in use today, including this one at Lustleigh.
