East Wrey House

An interesting story surrounds this house. In the late 1700s John Wills, second son of Thomas of East Wrey, saw his daughter Joanna marry Francis Daniel. Francis Daniel was rumoured to be the illegitimate son of the Duke of Clarence, later King William IV. Joanna and Francis lived in the grandest house in the district and had a very large family - no less than 20 children, 10 girls and 10 boys between 1798 and 1823.
