Parson William Davy -
Reverend William Davy was born on the 4th March 1743 in Tavistock. After being ordained he was appointed to the curacy of Moretonhampstead, and then came to Lustleigh in 1785. Throughout his life he had developed many talents, in particular mechanical and engineering skills. These skills were utilised during his time in Lustleigh. He constructed a printing press in the rectory and printed his own sermons, completing 26 volumes in 1807. The remains of the printing press were discovered in the roof of the rectory (now the Old Hall) in 1930.
