The lawn in front of Kergilliack

The lawn in front of Kergilliack. In the foreground is Kathleen Smallridge née Gedye (granddaughter to John Gedye). In his spare time John Gedye was an apiarist and his hives can be seen circled round the back of the lawn. He sold his honey to Huntley and Palmers, biscuit makers. On one of his few visits to his grandparents in Cornwall David Gedye's father tells of his banging on the hives with a stick to make the bees come out. He wasn’t stung, but the adults rushing to his rescue were.
