The Grey Wethers stone circles

The Grey Wethers stone circles

The Grey Wethers stone circles (two) between Sittaford Tor and Fernworthy Forest. A wether is a castrated ram. The stones were thought, when seen in the mist, to resemble recumbent sheep. The regularity and completeness of the circles may owe something to creative Victorian restoration.
