Stone in hedge at Riddipit

Stone in hedge at Riddipit

Burnard described the photograph as "stone in hedge at Riddipit". The remains at Riddipit (Crossing calls it 'Riddy Pit') are evidence of the tin mining industry which operated on Dartmoor until around 1939. Burnard must have considered from the shape of the stone that it was man-made and therefore probably associated with the activities of the tin miners. However even with his great experience of the remains of the miners he was unable to identify the original purpose of the stone.
